Fascinating view of the Lewiston Presbyterian Church. Back of photo says original snapshot was taken Nov. 5, 1938, but historians believe it was much earlier (possibly a copy was printed in 1938). This photo would have been taken near Center Street in the vicinity of 755 Center Street, known as the First and Last Chance Saloon. This photo originaly belonged to John W. Bedenkapp, who was an internationally known architect and interior designer. He set up the "Eyed Jefferson" in the National Gallery, Washington , DC for the 1976 Bicentennial. This might have been taken from the Bedenkapp backyard. Their home was later moved to Cayuga Street.
